About this module
Dust occurs naturally and from man-made activities like mining, including blasting, crushing, grinding, cleaning, and product sizing. The mining industry recognises dust as a problematic hazard, especially as dust can impact your health. This module provides a fundamental level of knowledge and understanding of dust in line with the Recognised Standard 20 (RS20) - Dust Control in surface mines 2019, a component of the Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999. It explores what dust is, how to identify dust and its associated risks, its negative health effects, and the controls used to manage the associated risks.
